About Me

harold oxley
My interest in art began very early when I made my first drawing in the dirt with a stick. I doodled and drew my way thru grade school. In college, I saw an original oil painting for the first time. Shortly thereafter, I changed my major from industrial design to fine arts. Now, decades later, after a career in graphic design, I am rekindling my early interest in drawing and painting. My subject matter includes specific figural subject matter as well as non-specific abstraction. Often these seemingly disparate elements are integrated to express and reflect the complexity of modern life. I feel that all my work representational or abstract is in some way a self-portrait. I paint mostly for my own gratification.
